A Spy Wednesday Look at Our Church Today

A “SPY WEDNESDAY” LOOK AT OUR CHURCH TODAY

FIRST BISHOPS POINT TO PRESENT BISHOPS

Judas, one of the 12 first bishops, betrayed because he had no supernatural faith, and believed he was part of an “organization,” that could withstand the loss of an over-zealous, devout member of this organization who, to the embarrassment of Judas, believed in miracles. Judas was in league with the rulers of the world.

I believe this lack of supernatural faith, and this conspiring with the worldly, is played out in 1/12th of our bishops today (e.g., the persecution of devout priests by their bishops), while 10/12ths of today’s bishops scatter in denial and “silent” self-protection.

There is 1/12th (as in John the Beloved) of our present day bishops who have, courageously, remained with Jesus when things have heated up. I would count, for example, Cardinal Burke in that 1/12th who have remained.

Remember, though, that the first bishops returned and, courageously, stood strong in defending the faith, even accepting martyrdom.

I can’t wait until we reach that place in today’s Church. Maybe this pandemic will bring us there.

I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
