Have We Lost Our Innocence? Can God Restore It?

I find it SO fascinating that today’s first reading has God pointing to “boys and girls playing in its streets” as a sign that faith has been restored in the land …

“The city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in its streets.
Thus says the LORD of hosts:
Even if this should seem impossible
in the eyes of the remnant of this people,
shall it in those days be impossible in my eyes also,
says the LORD of hosts?”

Then this in the Gospel …

An argument arose among the disciples
about which of them was the greatest.
Jesus realized the intention of their hearts and took a child
and placed it by his side and said to them,
“Whoever receives this child in my name receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
For the one who is least among all of you
is the one who is the greatest.”

Have we lost our innocence?

Yes! Here’s how I see it …

In my lifetime, we have witnessed the most aggressive campaign to overthrow God that has been seen in all of civilization. Sure, not all sides are perfect, but one side is totally dedicated to continue this anti-God campaign, while the other side has all “those who are serious about their faith” rooting for God, and getting in the battle to save our country. The choice is crystal clear, when one sees it in this context.

I am convinced we are in the throes of the greatest spiritual war of all times. While much of it is played out in the political theatre, it goes to the heart of everything we Christians hold near and dear to us, because it is a battle fought for Deus Vult (The will of God).

The enemy, just as it was in the Crusades, is seeking to seize ground by force and unjust tactics, while we are trying to protect this ground or even reclaim surrendered ground.

Here is my assessment …

  • More Christians have died for their faith in this past century than all other centuries of church history combined.
  • Since 1973, 1,720,000,000 babies have been sacrificed on the altar of sexual hedonism. This does not count the trillions of babies killed through abortifacient drugs.
  • Sex outside of marriage has become the norm. Humans are copulating as they were the beasts (hook-up culture).
  • Birth control is a way of life.
  • Marriage has been redefined for the first time in civilization.
  • Illegitimacy rates have soared.
  • The divorce rate is at epidemic proportions.
  • Sodomy and homosexuality are celebrated openly.
  • Public schools are indoctrinating children through atrocities such as “Drag Queen Story Hours.”
  • Grown men must be allowed to share bathrooms with little girls.
  • With the advent of high speed internet, scores of men, in particular, are now addicted to pornography and masturbation which, in their spiritual death, makes them incapable and disqualified (no grace) to serve in this spiritual warfare.
  • Drug use and addiction has exploded.
  • Christian values and morals are disparaged as a “problem,” not a remedy in our culture, as religious freedom is under constant assault.

Yes, we have lost our innocence. Can God restore it? To His remnant people – remaining devout Catholics – God is reassuring us that He most certainly can: “Even if this should seem impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people, shall it in those days be impossible in my eyes also, says the LORD of hosts?”

When I coined MAHA (Make America Holy Again), I was surprised to hear from many who said, “When was America ever holy?”

I don’t know what childhood memories they have, but this photo (below) closely resembles mine. I DO believe there was a time when America held firm to a “higher way” of living. Sure, there were pockets of evil, which there will be in all times, but this was a time when the vast majority of Americans set, as their highest priority, to aspire to reach up and touch the transcendentals of truth, beauty and goodness every moment of every day of their lives.

I can’t stop staring at this photo (below). It feels like I am looking at a work of art by Michelangelo, while I stand holding the coloring book of a mad man. What have we done?!?! What have we allowed to be done?!?!

You see?!?! Satan’s plan was crafty, indeed. First, remove everything you see in this photo – piety that humbles ourselves before God, beauty that awakens faith, belief in the power of supernatural grace, then you have removed our spiritual armor and convinced us to drop our spiritual weapons. Now, with little or nothing from which to protect us and build us up, we are left vulnerable to every allurement of the prince of this world.

THIS is why I am passionate, and I pray you are too, to recover the STRENGTH of faith the Catholic Church in America once had. We were meant to build upon what we see in this photo, not destroy it and start from scratch.

I love God! I love my Catholic faith! And, I love the United States of America! As President Ronald Reagan once said, “We maintain the peace through our strength; weakness only invites aggression.”

This is, quite literally, a BATTLE FOR THE SOUL OF AMERICA!!

Let’s believe that, WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE, and let’s all work our hardest to MAKE AMERICA HOLY AGAIN!

Become GOD STRONG, and America’s innocence will, one day, be restored!

P.S. Notice the flag in the Blessed Mother’s hands. The recovery of Faith and Patriotism will save our country so many fought and died to protect from evil invaders. Satan being our greatest threat.
