Is This the Last Straw For God?
The Supreme Court is expected to rule on gay marriage either this coming Monday or, more likely, on Tuesday. Look at the First Reading for Mass on Tuesday here – (Genesis 19).
Fr. Longenecker points out, in his candid article, Why Did God Destroy Sodom and Gomorrah?
“The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was not simply because the city was full of homosexuality. The violent homosexual rapists were a symptom of a deeper ugliness in Sodom and Gomorrah.”
I agree. However, this universal acceptance of homosexual “acts” seemed to be a “last straw” for God. It signaled that the culture had reached “rock bottom,” and was beyond hope of redemption, unless, in His mercy, there came some kind of “divine intervention.”
This SCOTUS decision comes on the heels of a recent onslaught of corporate endorsement of sodomy and gay marriage. Here are just a few examples …
Furthermore, the Huffington Post proudly displayed, to date, 379 companies urging the support of gay marriage (HERE).
Things Are Ramping Up
As I said, I agree that widespread acceptance of homosexual “acts” was not the only reason God had no choice but intervene with Sodom and Gomorrah, but I do believe it was the “last straw.” It seems Our Lady of Fatima would also agree with this …
“The final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Don’t be afraid … because anyone who operates for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be contended and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue … however, Our Lady has already crushed its head” (Sister Lucia, one of the seers of Fatima)
As I wrote, here …
With the Supreme Court decision on marriage pending any day now (I’ve been calling this our “Genesis 19 Moment“), along with many other events happening in the world and on the horizon, many wonder what kind of evil has been unleashed upon the world. Many of these events correspond to approved prophecies, most of which have been given in the past two centuries. Up until recent years, I was completely unaware of this prophecy attributed to Our Lady of Good Success, but many years prior to that, I had been saying the “something happened … something erupted in the 1960s …
“Thus I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and shortly after the middle of the 20th century…the passions will erupt and there will be a total corruption of morals… As for the Sacrament of Matrimony, which symbolizes the union of Christ with His Church, it will be attacked and deeply profaned. Freemasonry, which will then be in power, will enact iniquitous laws with the aim of doing away with this Sacrament, making it easy for everyone to live in sin and encouraging procreation of illegitimate children born without the blessing of the Church… In this supreme moment of need for the Church, the one who should speak will fall silent.” -Our Lady of Good Success, 1610 AD
Beyond these prophecies, some point to “signs in the sky,” which God has a long history of using to “get our attention.” I find it more than interesting, for example, that within 20 days of the 100th anniversary of the “sign in the sky” at Fatima (October 13, 1917), the Revelations 12 “sign in the Sky” will appear (just google … Sept. 23, 2017).
It is said that things accelerate toward the conclusion. Could it be possible that the ticking clock of 100 years given to Satan in Pope Leo’s vision (October 13, 1884 … exactly 33 years earlier, to the day), began with the sign in the sky on October 13, 1917? That means we are in the final couple of years, and few would deny that evil is ramping up at an incredible rate in our days.
According to many approved prophecies, this does not mean the end of the world. But, most of these prophecies seem to be pointing to a period of chastisement, followed by a period of peace (the length of which is unknown). At the very least, we will be persecuted (bigots, etc) and our churches will become smaller and smaller as many become duped by the indoctrination of the worldly.
Pope Benedict XVI (then Cardinal Ratzinger), back in 1969, seemed to have made predictions about the future of the Church …
The church will become small and will have to start afresh more or less from the beginning. She will no longer be able to inhabit many of the edifices she built in prosperity. As the number of her adherents diminishes . . . (read more).
Many believe we are entering into that predicted time.
What Should We Do?
Today’s Gospel gives us the insight we need to answer that question …
“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them
will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock.
And everyone who listens to these words of mine
but does not act on them
will be like a fool who built his house on sand.
The rain fell, the floods came,
and the winds blew and buffeted the house.
And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” (Matthew 7:24-27)
We simply must “OBEY.” That means, frequent Confession – be in a state of grace at all times – and be that precious obedient child of God by believing in and adhering to EVERY teaching of the Church.
Stay very close to Our Lady – daily rosary and I use this aspiration throughout the day, “Mary, cover me in your mantle” – and pray for those who have been led astray by the enormous propaganda efforts of the worldly.
This is our time to do the “Nineveh Thing.”
“Who knows, God may relent and forgive, and withhold his blazing wrath, so that we shall not perish.” (Jonah 3:9)
