DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY (QUARANTINE STYLE)

Please join us at St. Mary of Pine Bluff for Divine Mercy Sunday this Sunday, April 19, starting at 3:00pm, the Hour of Mercy. A Plenary Indulgence if offered.

We are offering the opportunity to drive up to the entrance of the Rosary Garden (see photo), on the grounds of St. Mary of Pine Bluff, to spend a few moments in front of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament during which Fr. Rick Heilman will bless you (while in your vehicle) with Epiphany Holy Water and a first class relic of St. Faustina.

Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament will be Present. Also, Our Lord’s image in the Divine Mercy will be present, as well as a first-class relic of St. Faustina for Veneration.

We will also offer various sacramentals as gifts, such as Epiphany Holy Water, Blessed Palms and Green Scapulars (touched to a Relic of the True Cross).

How It Works

As you can see in the photo for this article, St. Mary of Pine Bluff has a very beautiful “Rosary Garden.” It is wonderful setting for prayer, and the center of the Rosary Garden is where we lay pre-born babies, mainly lost through miscarriage.

There is a road that passes in front of the Rosary Garden. Cars will be directed to the entrance, and given a brief time to pause for prayer. Please remain in your vehicles throughout and plan to recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at or near the hour of 3:00pm. We ask that you kindly following the directions given by our parking lot attendants as they stream vehicles up to the Rosary Garden.

Plenary Indulgence

Please see below, the guidance from our Bishop Donald Hying, pertaining of the requirements of attaining these plenary indulgences:

There are two plenary indulgences available for Divine Mercy Sunday, although each person is limited to obtaining one per day. So take your pick. For either of the indulgences, it is necessary to (a) be in a state of grace and completely free from all attachment to sin, even venial; (b) pray for the intentions of the Holy Father (e.g. an Our Father and a Hail Mary); (c) have a sincere intention to receive sacramental confession and Eucharistic communion as soon as reasonably possible. In addition to those general requirements, one must either:

Special Pandemic Indulgence (available every day): Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for the end of the epidemic, for relief for the afflicted, and for eternal salvation for the dead; or …

Annual Divine Mercy Indulgence (only available on the feast day)

Take part in the prayers and devotions held in honor of Divine Mercy at any church or chapel; or if you can’t do that, then …
Recite, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament exposed or reserved in the tabernacle, the Our Father and the Creed, adding a devout prayer to the merciful Lord Jesus (e.g., “Merciful Jesus, I trust in you!”); or if you can’t do that, then …
Recite the Our Father and the Creed before a devout image of Our Merciful Lord Jesus and, in addition, pray a devout invocation to the Merciful Lord Jesus (e.g., “Merciful Jesus, I trust in you”); or if you can’t even do that, then …
Unite yourself with a spiritual intention to those who carrying doing the things above and offer to the Merciful Lord a prayer and the sufferings of your illness and the difficulties of your life.
