June 14 – Nationwide “Under God Processions” to Heal Our Land

What Are We to Do?
So many of us are watching as everything seems to be spinning out of control. First, the paralyzing shut down of our society … now, the paralyzing fear of violence in our cities. It seems any remedy to the chaos and turmoil all around us is beyond our control. It is! Why? Because, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). Now, maybe more than ever, is a time to turn to God to ask Him to heal our land!
So, what are we to do? First, we must always remember Jesus called us the “light of the world” …
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” -Matthew 5:14-16
Martin Luther King Jr. appealed to all of us to let the light and love of Christ shine before all:

Now is the perfect time for us to emerge from our church buildings and let the light and love of Christ shine in the public square!! We simply must BELIEVE in the POWER OF PRAYER, and that God will hear us and heal our land!
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
“Under God” Processions – June 14
Why June 14?
Corpus Christi – In most Catholic Churches, throughout the United States, they will be Celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi. Traditionally, this is a day to process Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist outside of the church building. If you are not able to process Our Lord, consider images of Our Lord and/or Our Lady. Or, simply offer a “Rosary Procession.”
Flag Day – June 14 is also “Flag Day.” What a wonderful opportunity to pray for our country, as we walk in prayer while expressing our patriotism by waving our flags!
“Under God” Anniversary – What is incredibly amazing about June 14 is that it is a significant anniversary for our country. On June 14, 1954, with the appeal of the amazing Knights of Columbus, President Dwight Eisenhower signs order adding words `under God’ to the Pledge of Allegiance.
Going back to the Garden of Eden, the serpent has always looked to get us “out” from being “under God,” and to be our own gods. In America, many forces have worked to pull all of us out from “under God,” over the past 50 years. And so, here we are. It’s time we get up and get out, with the tools God has revealed to us, to bless the ground with our faith and prayers and get our beloved country “under God” once again!
Form Your “Under God” Procession Groups!
Please, consider forming groups to pray in the public square on Sunday, June 14! If possible, walk and pray at or near the areas ravaged by violence and looting (if safe). Near government buildings would be good too. Just “be seen” … let your light shine!! We want to be a peaceful, loving and calming presence to bring the hope of Christ’s love to the world.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to join us!!
Meet – We will meet at 2:30pm at Holy Redeemer church to organize. Here is the address for your GPS: Holy Redeemer, 120 W Johnson St, Madison, WI 53703
Procession – At 3:00pm (The Hour of Mercy), we will process Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. We will proceed one block down to State St. (the epicenter of protests in the 1960s and lately). Then we will turn up State St. toward the State Capitol.
The Knights of Columbus have, enthusiastically, expressed their support for this, and have assured me they will be there in full force! I have just ordered 200 flags for folks to wave as we pray for our country! I will be bringing tons of Holy Water and Blessed Salt for folks to bless the land. I am recruiting men to dress in cassocks and surplices to assist in the Eucharistic Procession!
Please, please, please bring your friends and families, and let the light and love of Christ shine on June 14!!
