Men Govern, Women Reign
“When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more noble her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her. The history of civilization could actually be written in terms of the level of its women.” – Venerable Fulton J. Sheen
God’s glorious creation began with things such as dirt, then vegetation, then animals, etc. … it just kept getting better and better. God then created His great love interest … His adopted children … human beings. Yet man was created only second to last. Woman is the crescendo … the last and greatest of all of God’s creation!!
God has created nothing more beautiful, more loving, more tender-hearted, more nurturing. That is why women are perfectly positioned to be wife and mother. And, because women are the pinnacle of all God’s creations, they too, like the Blessed Mother, should be esteemed as sacred. They have been given the special role of being the tabernacle of God’s next love interest. That is why many women veil at Mass. We veil sacred things. Woman is sacred.
Archbishop Fulton Sheen wrote:
“The man governs the home, but the woman reigns. Government is related to justice; reigning is related to love. Instead of man and woman being opposites, in the sense of contraries, they more properly complement one another as their Creator intended when He said: ‘It is not good for man to be alone.'”
I long for the day to return when gentlemen would stand for a lady who enters a room. Men are called to “serve” their family by protecting, providing and leading. But, a “gentleman” knows that this means never accepting a “spot light” … always pointing that light to his beautiful wife and children. It’s the “St. Joseph thing.” Notice how little attention St. Joseph received in the bible. And yet for centuries now, we have revered Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
Unfortunately, feminists never understood this. They focused on isolated instances of disordered relationships in which odious men would overstep their governing role and seize the woman’s role of reigning. Feminists then believed they should usurp the governing role of men … women now wanted to “be in charge!” Their primary tactic being the emasculation of men. Having the support of the vast majority of the entertainment industry, men became “Homer Simpsons” overnight. With such a great megaphone, the vast majority of women bought into this feminist narrative, and felt it was their right to govern now.
The result has been an epidemic of complacency and sloth among men. They are not equipped to stand against such an awesome force as the entire entertainment industry, so men have simply retreated to a state of “mere existence.” Many men have simply slipped into “other interests” to find some life at all in this “mere existence.” For many, it is sports. Unfortunately, for many more, it is a porn addiction.
Archbishop Futon Sheen wrote, “The major problem of the world is the restoration of the image of man. Every time a child is born into the world, there is a restoration of the human image. but only from the physical point of view; The surcease from the tragedy can come only from the restoration of the spiritual image of man, as a creature made to the image and likeness of God and destined one day, through the human will in cooperation with God’s grace, to become a child of God and an heir of the Kingdom of Heaven. The image of man that was first ruined in the revolt against God in Eden was restored when the Woman brought forth a Man — a perfect man without sin, but a man personally united with God. He is the pattern of the new race of men, who would be called Christians.”
