Stay With Him, He Will Protect You

Stay With Him, He Will Protect You

There is close, and there is very close.

As the first Psalm (Psalm 57) of the Divine Office this morning assures us …

Have mercy on me, God, have mercy
for in you my soul has taken refuge.
In the shadow of your wings I take refuge
till the storms of destruction pass by.

Staying with Him, as he invites us to do in today’s Gospel (John 1:39), is where we need to be at all times. But, we can blithely take that for granted, keeping Him handy in case of emergency, or we can demonstrate the intensity of our love and gratefulness.

Sin opens portals; invites evil to go on the attack in our lives, as exorcists warn. Our sin is our choice to rid ourselves of being under shadow of His wings. Even our indifferent and apathetic attitude toward Our Lord can make us vulnerable to sin and attacks.

As St. Paul exhorts us …

Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Romans 12:11-12).

Stay with Him in fervent love and devotion. Start your day, just right, with the few short prayers that have been revealed to us. Dedication to these are a sign you are not lacking in fervent love of Him; that you seek His protection at all times.

____ Morning Offering

____ Angelus

____ Rosary

____ Mental Prayer (if only a few short minutes)

Always be in a state of grace. Go to Confession at least once a month, and immediately after falling to grave sin.

My prayer throughout the day is, “Jesus (bowing), keep me as the apple of Your eye, hide me under the shadow of Your wings. Mary, cover me with your mantle.”

Stay with Him.
